Having owned, worked with and bred many animals over the years including horses, dogs, sheep and chickens Anne has always had a great interest in all types of animals and birds.

On leaving school she briefly worked with horses before attending a Science Laboratory Assistant course which led to training as an Animal Technician in the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. Following this, Anne worked for Syntex Research Centre as an Animal Technician within their Toxicology department, working with a variety of different animals. Her responsibilities included day to day animal welfare, clinical trial dosing, blood sampling, monitoring the health status of animals, record keeping, assisting with post mortems and results.

Anne has owned Labrador Retrievers for over 30 years, and shows, works, breeds and judges them, and is also a qualified microchipper. This has led to Anne’s great interest in the game bird industry; regularly attending a number of commercial and private shoots. In 2010 Anne worked dogs on more than 50 shoot days on grouse, partridge, pheasant and ducks and hence has a large number of friends and contacts in the industry.

Anne is now assisting vet Barry Thorp in Scotland to provide our clients with a range of professional services.
